Many moments contributed to 2008 being an unforgettable year for Celine and her fans. The critically acclaimed Taking Chances World Tour took the world by storm, selling out venues and setting attendance records. Celine also presented the special concert ‘Celine sur les Plaines’ to more than 200,000 fans in honour of Quebec City's 400th anniversary, which later became a best-selling DVD across Canada. Celine then released two new 'Best Of' compilations, 'My Love: Essential Collection' and the double-disc edition, 'My Love: Ultimate Essential Collection'. As Celine's albums and DVDs climbed the charts, she made appearances on numerous television programs and magazines, and took part in the 'Faces of Hope' charity project, which she appeared on Oprah to promote. Celine received many honours in 2008, including a World Music Award, the ‘Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur’ medal from France, a special tribute at Quebec's ADISQ Gala, and more. Celine also extended her exquisite fragrance line with the addition of the sweet and romantic Sensational. In March, we asked TeamCeline members to submit their favourite Celine moment of 2008 for their chance to win an autographed photo of Celine. The poignant entries from the ten lucky winners are featured below.

My Favorite moment not just of 2008 but of all time was Celine being recognized for the GALA DE L'ADISQ 2008. To see Celine win such an accolade that goes above and beyond Grammies and Oscars was such a proud moment. I loved when the whole room which was at least several thousand just jumped to their feet and chanted and clapped for over 5 minutes. Celine was in that moment, true musical royalty that no media or magazine or journalist could ever deny. I was so pleased to see her recognized in such a way and her family and mother to be oh so proud and emotional. The fabulous speech and piece of music before her award even though in French was heartrending and the emotion and what it meant to Celine was so obvious to see. The fact that it also came from her home country I think, meant even more to her. I was so proud to be a fan that night and I watch it over and over again. Celine is a legend.

There have been so many wonderful and inspiring moments for Celine in 2008. My favorite centers around "My Love". First, seeing Celine's heart being completely opened by Linda Perry and the lyrics to "My Love" was extremely touching. I believe that 10 minute video provided one of the most deep and vulnerable looks into Celine's life that we have ever been able to witness, and it deeply touched my heart. Second, for her to have the capability to harness that emotion and record a truly personal and powerful song shows her capability as an artist. Finally, being able to see Celine perform the song live during her "Taking Chances" tour knowing how much it meant to her, and means to so many of us, was truly a gift.

Mon moment marquant de l'année 2008 de Celine est sans aucun doute le soir où j'ai assisté à son spectacle au Centre Bell (12ième rangée au parterre) et que Céline a débuté sa chanson "My Love" assise sur le piano de Mégo. Elle n'a pu poursuivre sa chanson tellement les cris, applaudissements et "Je t'aime Céline !!!" retentissaient de partout. Elle était très émue et à ce moment... j'avoue que les larmes ont coulé sur mes joues car j'ai vraiment compris pourquoi je l'aime autant et depuis si longtemps. Elle est authentique, simple, touchante, émouvante, humaine, attachante et tellement aimable. Merci de me lire et surtout Merci Céline de m'avoir permis de vivre une telle émotion encore une fois (car il faut préciser qu'à tous ses spectacles, elle me fait vivre de belles émotions et je pense que c'est un grand défi)!!! * il est important de préciser qu'à mon arrivée au Centre Bell la tension était déjà palpable. Sur le trottoir la musique de Céline était partout, les gens chantaient, dansaient, s'amusaient... c'était vraiment un privilège de partager ce moment de pur plaisir avec tous ses FANS.

My favorite moment was when I was watching Celine starting to sing "My Love". She was so focused and passionate and right when she was going to get into it more, we starting yelling how much we loved her and she then got this surprised look on her face and she smiled and couldn't help but get out of character. She made a funny face and even laid back on the piano because she couldn't stop smiling from our cheers. I love and cherish this moment so much because it shows how much Celine is just like us all and that it's ok for her to be just silly and fun with us all. It shows who Celine really is and I love that. I love that she can just be who she is not and not have to feel that she has to be this superstar diva like most singers. She is amazing. :)

The best Celine moment for me in 2008 was Celine's performance at the Grammy nomination party where she sang "At Seventeen". What a breathe taking performance and I can completely relate to that song, it just really hit me. Not only can she sing anything I thought her interpretation was so real and heartfelt. To me it was a magical moment. Thank you Celine!

Mon meilleur moment "Celine" en 2008 fut sans contredit lors du spectacle sur les plaines d'Abraham. J'y étais avec ma nièce originaire de Québec et nous avons passé une journée splendide. Tout a commencé à l'attente pour l'ouverture du site. C'était incroyable, il y avait tant de gens et de chaleur humaine. Nous avons discuté avec d'autres fans venus des quatre coins du Québec. Ensuite, nous sommes entrés sur le site dans un élan d'euphorie sachant combien nous allions passer une belle soirée. L'attente aurait pu être longue mais, les présentations vidéo et l'ambiance étaient telles que nous n'avons pas vu le temps passer. Quand enfin Céline est arrivée sur scène, je ne pouvais pas croire que j'avais la chance d'être là. Comme toujours, Céline s'est donnée à 100% pour nous et a fait preuve de générosité tant avec les spectateurs qu'avec ses invités sur scène. Parmi les duos inoubliables, je retiendrai celui avec Ginette Reno, mais aussi, celui avec Zachary Richard qui a remercié Céline pour son soutien lors des tragiques événements à la Nouvelle Orléans. J'ai été porté par ce spectacle pendant plusieurs jours. Le lendemain, dans l'autobus qui me ramenait vers Montréal, Céline était sur toutes les lèvres et encore plus dans mon coeur!

My favourite moment was when Celine was on Oprah for the Miracle children. And sang "My Love" in accapella it made me cry. She sang it with so much emotion. And she did the same when we saw her in concert! Wow what an amazing artist my family and I would follow her anywhere to see her perform. She's an incredible human being. It's been an honour to watch her evolve. Thanks Celine and Team Celine.

Pour moi, il est difficile en tant que fan de Celine de discerner LE MOMENT MARQUANT car l'année 2008 a été encore une fois extrêmement remplie. Donc, comme il faut en choisir qu'UN, alors ce fut quand Céline a reçu son doctorat honoris causa de l'Université Laval, en août 2008. J'étais présent à cet évènement et je peux vous dire que Céline m'a, et nous a tous, donné une bouffée d'humanisme en recevant et acceptant humblement cette reconnaissance, pour ses diverses implications tant personnelles que professionnelles. Je suis l'un des chanceux à avoir partagé ce moment avec elle. Voilà le moment que je voulais partager avec vous. Merci.

My favourite Celine moment in 2008 was definitely seeing Celine's concert in Geneva and meeting her at the airport and having my picture taken with her! It was an incredible experience to see Celine that close for the very first time and too see that she was even more beautiful without makeup. It amazed me that she took the time to sign autographs for everyone and made sure that everyone got their picture - it proved to me that Celine really is the person, also in real life, I thought she was - kind, generous, funny, committed, sensitive and loyal to her fans! After this amazing experience I decided to go all the way from Austria to Quebec to see her perform in Quebec City and Montreal - I had the time of my life! Still this short moment in Geneva will remain forever as my special Celine moment, when it proved to me that she is the wonderful and beautiful person, both inside and outside, I imagined her to be!

Bonjour, moi le meilleur moment 2008 c'était le 19 mai à Paris. Pas forcément son concert à Bercy, mais je dirais plutôt vers 15h30 lorsqu'elle est sortie de son hôtel. Plus de 1000 fans étaient là, on attendait depuis le matin 8h00 pour être sûr de la voir! Lorsqu'on nous a prévenus de sa sortie, on nous a demandé de ne pas bouger et de rester assez calme car Celine était très stressée pour son grand retour sur la scène française. Ses « bodyguards » sont finalement sortis, puis Céline est apparue plus ravissante que jamais, et souriante, elle nous a salués, à ce moment-là, une vague de joie s'est emparée de nous et nous l'avons ovationnée durant 3-4 minutes, on lui a dit qu'on serait tous là avec elle ce soir au spectacle, qu'on l’aimait, et que la France ne l'avait pas oubliée. Elle nous a remerciés, elle a levé ses bras en l'air comme pour nous dire qu'elle ressentait notre énergie, elle nous a crié : "À ce soir!!" Puis elle est montée dans sa voiture et ce soir là, l'émotion était palpable, elle nous a donné un show du tonnerre!! Ce sont des moments comme ça qui nous font aimer encore plus notre idole.
