Firefighter Robert Verhelst, will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most ironman distance triathlons completed in a single year. The current world record stands at 20 triathlons. Firefighter Verhelst’s goal is to surpass the current world record by completing 27 ironman distance triathlons in different parts of the world. Robert’s quest will keep alive the memory of the loved ones lost on 9/11 as he will carry with him the baby blanket he found on ground zero. His efforts will also help raise funds and bring awareness to the CODE 3 FOR A CURE FOUNDATION. The foundation is dedicated to assist firefighters who are fighting cancer. The first Ironman event is scheduled for January 8, 2012.
