Celine and René Show their Support for an Olympian

When Canadian figure skater Joannie Rochette received the news that her mother had passed away of a massive heart attack just hours after landing in Vancouver, Canada, she knew pulling out of the competition wasn't an option. She pulled through, gave it her best and with her mother watching over her, earned herself a Ladies Figure Skating bronze medal. For her performance in the exhibition gala which took place a few days later, Rochette made a last minute decision to swap her music for Celine's "Vole", a song she knew meant a lot to her mother who was an avid Celine fan. A day before the gala, Rochette received a touching phone call and a bouquet of flowers from Celine and René who understood first-hand what the skater was going through. Celine spoke to Rochette about her experience taking the stage in 2003 the same night she had lost her father to cancer and she commended the athlete for achieving her goals despite the grief she was feeling.

René's Official Biography now Released in France

Happy Birthday

Today is Celine's brother, Jacques' birthday. He is the seventh child of the family and shares Celine's love of music. Jacques is a guitarist and composer. He composed the melody for Celine's song, "Ce n'était qu'un rêve." Jacques remembers practicing music with his friends in the basement and four-year-old Celine would always try to get to the microphone and sing!

Celine Supports African Children's Feeding Scheme

In 2008, Celine and René made a five-year commitment to the children and families of Soweto in which the Celine Dion Foundation would donate R300,000 per year to the African Children's Feeding Scheme. The donations have been used to plan fun parties where the children enjoy pleasure of being kids! This year, in celebration of the 2010 FIFA World Cup which is taking place in South Africa, the ACFS has decided to use the donation to host football themed parties so that the children may feel that they too are part of the celebrations taking place in their country. On this day in 1991, Celine made her debut television acting performance in the Quebec television mini-series « Des fleurs sur la neige ». Celine played the leading role of 'Élisa T', a young girl mistreated by her parents for 16 years. Part 1 of this moving, true-story mini-series based on book of the same name, premiered on this day on the network Radio-Canada in Quebec.

Celine listened to a lot of American music even before she learned to speak English. With a pen or hairbrush in hand, she would sing in front of the mirror, imitating artists like Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder. One song she loved to perform over and over again was the 1980s Irene Cara hit "What A Feeling" from the movie Flashdance. The movie was particularly inspiring for Celine because of its message of not giving up on your dreams.

Celine Dion Returns To Caesars Palace For Las Vegas Residency

Confirming the buzz that has been circulating for months, Celine Dion announced today that she will be returning to Las Vegas in March 2011 to begin a three year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace! The show will premiere on March 15, 2011 and features 31 musicians, consisting of a full orchestra and band. The show's concept will be one-of-a-kind, centered on capturing the romance of classic Hollywood movies and performed with a stunning visual presentation. Tickets for the first 54 performances from March 15 through August 14, 2011 will go on sale Friday, February 12, 2010 at 10 a.m. PT.

"I'm coming back home to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace and I'm very excited about it," said Celine. "With the orchestra and the band we're going to be able to perform our songs like never before. The repertoire is going to be extraordinary...a mix of timeless Hollywood classics, along with all the favorites that my fans like to hear me sing. It's going to be a very beautiful show, and I think we'll be raising the bar higher than we've ever done before. There'll be some truly wonderful moments......I can't wait!"

After five consecutive years of sold-out shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Celine embarked on a year-long worldwide tour in 2008-2009, visiting five continents, 25 countries and playing to more than 3 million fans. Following the conclusion of the tour, and after taking a year off to enjoy some valuable family time, Celine is preparing for her triumphant return to Las Vegas in 2011.
