Faces of Hope 2008

In 2008, Celine took part in the special humanitarian project "Faces of Hope," which involved a photo shoot with twelve child survivors from nine countries around the world. Four fundraising items were created from this photo shoot and are available for purchase: a book about the miracle children, a 2009 family calendar and two different series of greeting cards. All proceeds from these items will be donated to the Sainte-Justine Hospital in Montreal, the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto as well as UNICEF. Click here for more information and to purchase any of these very special items.

Celine's Commitment to Charity

Celine is committed to many good causes. She is the National Celebrity Patron for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and has also established the Celine Dion Foundation.

The Celine Dion Foundation

The Celine Dion Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports various charities and individuals, with a focus on helping children and families in need. Staff workers are voluntary, therefore 100% of the monies received are appropriated to charity.

Ultimate Fan Experience 2009
In 2009, the Celine Dion Foundation auctioned off the Ultimate Fan Experience.  Jeffrey and Andrea Bennett were the generous winners of this once-in-a-lifetime ‘Taking Chances World Tour’ concert experience, contributing an incredible $17,500 to the Celine Dion Foundation. Their premium package included VIP ticket’s to Celine’s show in San Jose, California a meet ‘n greet with Celine, a tour of the backstage area and dressing rooms as well as attending the dance rehearsal with a mini dance lesson!  The Bennetts also enjoyed access to Celine's soundcheck, dinner with the dancers and crew, and a tour merchandise gift bag before attending the February 20th concert. Thanks to their generous support, the Celine Dion Foundation can continue to help children and families in need.

The Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

The article below details Celine's involvement with the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF), and appears courtesy of CCFF.

Celine Dion began promoting public awareness of cystic fibrosis back in 1982. Since those early days of her career, Celine's commitment to the CF cause has remained a constant part of her life.

That commitment is marked by real life tragedy. Celine was in the room when her niece, Karine, succumbed to the disease at the age of 16.

Celine began supporting the CF cause at the regional level by collaborating with the Quebec Cystic Fibrosis Association (QCFA) - the Foundation's provincial arm in Quebec. She helped spread the CF message by participating in media interviews, QCFA public service campaigns and fundraising activities. In August of 1993, Celine strengthened her commitment by graciously accepting the Foundation's invitation to be its national Celebrity Patron. As part of her increased involvement, Celine participated in the Foundation's Canada-wide public awareness campaign, from 1994 to 1997. The central message of this campaign - featuring Celine and Chanelle Lemieux Lecavalier, a child with CF from Hull, PQ - was one of both hope and urgency. Hope, that a cure or an effective control for cystic fibrosis will be found. Urgency, for continued public support is required to realize this goal.

In addition to promoting public awareness of the CF cause, Celine generates significant revenues for cystic fibrosis research and treatment from Canadian and international sources, and has generously donated to the Foundation her appearance fees from several concerts and guest appearances. In 1996, Celine helped the Foundation to secure an important new sponsorship with Royal Airlines.

There is no doubt that Celine's immense popularity, both in Canada and internationally, will continue to benefit the CF cause. As her songs reach a wider audience all over the world, she is now in a position to appeal to the generosity of a greater number of people. Each year and each step of her involvement have brought us closer to victory against cystic fibrosis.

Highlights of Celine's Volunteer Support

MISSING
Over two years ago, a young girl named Cédrika Provencher disappeared from Trois-Rivières, a small town in Quebec. She was 9 years old. She was a social and talkative girl, always friendly toward others. She left her home for a bike ride and was supposed to return by 8:30pm.
Over the past two years, hundreds of volunteers and police officers, helped by search dogs, have given their time and their hearts in an effort to find her. The leads found by police have proven to be unclear. Today, men and women are showing their support for the safety and love of children by joining forces in the search, in order to help the family shed light on this mystery.
Her parents remain hopeful. They believe and hope that maybe Cédrika is being held somewhere, unable to speak or free herself.
Please be vigilant. Please help us find Cédrika. If you have any information at all, even the smallest suspicion, do not hesitate to contact your local authorities.
It is for Cédrika's life...
Thank you.
