LAS VEGAS – CELINE DION AT THE COLOSSEUM AT CAESARS PALACE

Before March 25, 2003, Las Vegas had very little meaning for me… But since that day, I have found this city in the Nevada desert, associated with Celine Dion, more and more fascinating… Unfortunately, it was only through a few articles published in the French press that I was able to witness this event (I am in a good position to tell you this as the manager of a newsstand in Gattières…) ! !

Since May 28, 2003, the date when I saw Celine Dion in Las Vegas at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in her fabulous show “A New Day…”, I have to confess: we literally fell in love, with the show, as well as with the city of a million lights!!
Having won 2 VIP tickets with TeamCeline, I had, to top it off, the privilege of being seated, with my friend Thierry, in the front row. The show is like Celine: GRANDIOSE. All those palaces along the strip (the main street in the city) welcoming you to their hotel, each one more beautiful than the other, are true architectural masterpieces…

One of the most beautiful is obviously the Caesars Palace where Celine Dion performs every night. Even before stepping inside this Palace which reminds you of Ancient Rome, Celine Dion’s show “A New Day…” is advertised on the Strip with giant billboards and video displays showing clips of the show to people passing by.

When you enter the Caesars Palace, you are literally blown away by the beauty of the hotel: some of the most stunning luxury boutiques coexist with the casino; and next to the entrance to the Colosseum is where you’ll find the official Boutique of Celine Dion. You can find a little bit of everything : clothing, hand bags, pens, jewelry, caps, golf balls, keychains, pillows, frames, CDs, DVDs, posters, the official show program for “A New Day…”.

And you can’t forget her latest line of perfume and beauty products that carry her name. Everything is presented with taste and with musical ambiance, as Celine’s videos are presented without interruption… A must-see for the fans that we are…

As for Celine’s show “A New Day…”, I can tell you that it is simply… MAGICAL!!
After taking a taxi (which even had a promotional sign for Celine Dion’s show on its roof…) to get to the show and after going through the usual security check (the public is systematically screened, no photos can be taken during the show to respect the Artist’s wishes!), the entrance with the red carpet into the Colosseum is enough to blow you away… Once inside the Colosseum lobby, very beautiful Chrysler vehicules are showcased even before you enter the venue that is both grandiose and so intimate… During different interviews, Celine explained how she wished to welcome us at her home… Let me assure you that she went all out! Comfortably seated in the front row, facing the inclined stage, we had a perfect view of the stage, each different song performed by Celine introduced us to a new universe, sometimes real, sometimes imaginary… Celine Dion, with her dancers and musicians, shared with us 1 hour and 30 minutes of joy and emotion… What a show!!

The show begins with Celine, alone, wearing a black tuxedo, singing “Nature Boy”… The magic would lead us to believe that she is approaching from a great distance as she comes forward to the front of the stage… Only two meters (!!) separate us from Celine : this is when the privilege of VIP seats is most appreciated… Celine appears very relaxed, very beautiful despite her athletic body! This show is not just a concert, but a real show of athleticism! Then slowly, the dancers walk on stage. Suddenly, in a bright red outfit (our favourite singer changed costumes 5 times during the show), Celine starts singing “The Power Of Love” as a large staircase emerges from the centre of the stage and as large chandeliers come down from the ceiling… She then performs “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now”, “Because You Loved Me” and “To Love You More.” Ballerinas dressed completely in white spin around the stage as large clouds roll over on the giant video screen. The entire audience then gets into a frenzy for “I’m Alive.”

The audience quiets down for “Seduces Me.” Celine, sitting in a chair, is surrounded by a dozen beautiful shirtless men … They caress her… Then, Celine intimately dedicates “If I Could” to her son, René-Charles. Then a silence : a flying piano, pulled by two dancers, also suspended, floats in the air… A Japanese cherry tree emerges from the stage.

Everything is flying during “I’ve Got The World On A String” and then a thunder of applause as Celine, with a harness attached to a cable, also takes flight with “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.” We were won over… It is likely the most stunning moment in the show! Later on, Celine requests our participation and we are asked to get up and “move” with her to the beat of “Love Can Move Mountains.” The dancers even mix in with the audience… Another moment full of emotion, when a dancer offers a rose to Celine and she comes down the stairs, and mere two steps away from us, offers it to my neighbour… Then Celine continues with “I Drove All Night,” “One Heart,” (sic) and then “My Heart Will Go On.” The Diva then takes her leave on “What A Wonderful World”… after singing 21 songs, without interruption!!

After seeing the show “A New Day…,” we can only think of the long hours of work put in by the dancers, musicians, and the whole technical team, not to mention Franco Dragone and our dear Celine Dion who won her bet: sharing with her audience and her fans a 90 minute show of pure magic and joy!! Once again, Celine has succeeded in sharing her emotions and touching our hearts…

If there was but one small regret??? That 90 minutes go by too fast… there are so many surprises in the show that it is almost impossible to notice them all during only one performance.

So Celine, I have only one wish : that your show obtains the success it deserves and it’s a promise, see you soon at The Colosseum with, perhaps a little song you will present… in French, until then!!!
