Tripp Halstead Updates
Stacy: I wish no news this morning was good news, but not the case. Today is 4 months since the accident and it feels like we are back to the beginning. Just talked to mom, she stayed the night and I am headed there now. She said his fevers were back, his heart rate and blood pressure are up again. His breathing is all over the place, he is back on oxygen for now. He won't open his eyes all the way and his pupils are very dilated. So some good news is that they did an X-ray and his lungs look clear, tested his blood and couldn't find any infection, tested his CSF and no infection, so now they think his new drain is not working properly. Fluid is backing up in his brain, making his eyes dilate, all his stats go crazy and of course giving him a horrible headache. So mom said he has been crying and moaning all night/morning. His neurosurgeon is coming to look at him today and see if that is the problem. If it is, they will try to fix it in the room ...and if not, it could mean another surgery. I want to scream!!!!! I left last night so confident that everything was going to be perfect. He was sleeping, all his numbers were great. We were finally moving ahead. And we just seem to be going backwards. Some of the Drs are so encouraging. Telling us how much of a fighter Tripp is and he has not given up even for a second and he is so strong and he will get better. You need to hear those words at times like this. PICU is a scary place, but they can also work miracles. So keep fighting baby boy!! You have 100's of thousands of people pulling for you and you can't leave me. I love you so much my heart can't even hold it all. Thank you everyone for your prayers and positive thoughts at this time. We all know Tripp is a heck of a fighter and he will make it through this bump in the road too. Love you all.
