It's All Coming Back...

Celine hosts the Juno Awards for the 1st time

(Juno Awards, O’Keefe Center, Toronto - March 21, 1993)

I was excited by the idea of hosting the ceremony, and everything was going very well… until I learned I had to do it in English!

In 1993 and for the first time in her career, Celine hosted the Juno Awards in celebration of the Canadian music industry. In addition to picking up 7 nominations, Celine opened the ceremony with ''Love Can Move Mountains'' alongside the Toronto-based choir Kaleefah.

Despite a high fever throughout the weekend rehearsals, Celine collected 4 Junos that evening:

Female Vocalist of the Year for the 3rd consecutive year
Best Selling Francophone Album for 'Dion Chante Plamondon'
Single of the Year for ''Beauty and the Beast '' with Peabo Bryson
Best Dance Recording
for ''Love Can Move Mountains''

Celine’s voice, sense of humour and personality won the hearts of many spectators that evening.

News from TeamCeline

Aldo Giampaolo, President and CEO of Feeling Productions, would like to confirm that musicians Claude "Mego" Lemay, Yves Frulla, André Coutu and Jean-Seb Carré will no longer be part of Celine's band after their contracts expire on March 15, 2015.

"It was a difficult decision to make that I felt was necessary to breathe fresh air into the show," commented Mr Giampaolo. "Celine and Rene join me in thanking them for sharing their immense talent with us over the years and we wish them continued success in their future endeavours."

Mr Giampaolo would like to reassure the public and fans alike that Celine will return to the stage but no dates have been confirmed at this time.

On This Day...

Céline's father Adhémar Dion would have been 92 years old today.
Here are her words to him as they appear in the 'Miracle' album booklet, which was released one year after his death:
''Papa, our world is filled with your memories, your laughter, and your music. Your essence is still in the air that I breath, and I see your eyes every day, in my son’s bluer-than-blue ones. We so very much love you.''

Celine and Oscar

The 83rd Academy Awards, which took place on February 27, 2011, marked Celine's 7th performance on the Oscar stage. She sang Charlie Chaplin's "Smile” during the In Memoriam tribute, which honours distinguished members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences who passed away during the previous year. That evening, Celine said "It is always a great honour to be here. Performing a song at the Oscars is unforgettable.”

Through the years, Celine also performed "Beauty and the Beast" with Peabo Bryson (1992), "Because You Loved Me" and, as a last minute replacement for Barbra Streisand, the song “I Finally Found Someone” (1997), "My Heart Will Go On" (1998), "The Prayer" a duet with Andrea Bocelli (1999) and "I Knew I Loved You" an homage to famous Italian composer Ennio Morricone (2007).

The Power of Love

When "The Power of Love" hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on February 12th 1994, it became Celine's first hit single in the United States. "The Power of Love" was composed by Jennifer Rush and Mary Susan Applegate and was first recorded by Air Supply who entitled the song "The Power of Love (You Are My Lady)". Before it's initial release by Air Supply, German producers Gunter Mende and Candy DeRouge urged Jennifer Rush to record her own version, which would be released in June 1985, one month prior to Air Supply's version. Rush's version became an enormous success becoming a #1 hit in many European countries as well as in Canada and Australia. In the early 90s, CBS (Sony) asked David Foster to produce a new version of the song. Foster instantly thought of Celine and proposed a new musical arrangement focusing on the strength of Celine's voice with minimal instrumentals (keyboard and guitar). After 12 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the song hit #1 and stayed there for 4 weeks. "The Power of Love" remained Celine's signature song until the release of "My Heart Will Go On" and she continues to sing it in every concert she performs.

It's All Coming Back...

Female Vocalist of the Year (pour la troisième année consécutive)
Best Selling Francophone Album pour « Dion Chante Plamondon »
Single of the Year pour « Beauty and the Beast » avec Peabo Bryson
Best Dance Recording
pour « Love Can Move Mountains »

Celine Puts Show Business Career On Hold For Her Health And Family Reasons

Montreal, August 13th - Celine Dion has decided to postpone all of her show business activities indefinitely, in order to focus 100% of her attention on her husband Rene, their family, and associated health issues. Since Rene's surgery last December to remove a cancerous tumor, it's been a very difficult and stressful time for the couple as they deal with the day-to-day challenges of fighting this disease while trying to juggle a very active show business schedule, and raise their three young children.

Celine has also been fighting an illness that has caused inflammation in her throat muscles, and has not been able to perform any of her scheduled shows in Las Vegas since her last show on July 29th. She has still not recovered from this condition.

"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support." said Celine

During this hiatus, Celine will cancel her shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace until further notice. She will also cancel her tour of Asia, previously scheduled for the fall of this year.

Celine and family have requested that their privacy be respected at this time.
